Calendrier Hébraïque

La date des fêtes Juives ne change pas d’année en année. Les fêtes juives sont célébrées le même jour du calendrier Juif chaque année, mais l’année lunaire du calendrier Juif n’est pas de la même longueur que l’année solaire du calendrier Gregorian employé dans la plupart du monde occidental.
Origine et Histoire:
Le calendrier Juif est basé sur l’année lunaire, chaque mois commençant à la nouvelle lune. Rosh H’odésh, le premier du mois, commence quand le premier ruban de lune devient visible après le noir de la lune.
Le problème avec des calendriers lunaires est qu’il y a approximativement 12,4 mois lunaires pour chaque année solaire, donc un calendrier de 12 mois lunaire perd environ 11 jours chaque année. Les mois « dérivent » par rapport à l’année solaire. Sur le calendrier de 12 mois, le mois de Nissan, que l’on estime à l’arrivée du Printemps, arrive 11 jours plus tôt chaque année, amenant en fin de compte en Hiver, l’automne, l’Été et ensuite le Printemps de nouveau. Pour compenser cette dérive, un mois supplémentaire est de temps en temps ajouté : un deuxième mois d’Adar. Le mois de Nissan arrivera 11 jours plus tôt pendant deux ou trois ans et avancera ensuite de 29 ou 30 jours, pour équilibrer la dérive.
Au quatrième siècle, Hillel a établi un calendrier fixe basé sur des calculs mathématiques et astronomiques. Ce calendrier, toujours en utilisation, a standardisé la longueur des mois et le complément de mois pour la durée du cycle de 19 année, pour que le calendrier lunaire s’aligne avec les années solaires. Adar II est ajouté en 3ème, 6ème, 8ème, 11ème, 14ème, 17ème et 19ème années du cycle. Le Nouvel An qui a commencé lundi, le 25 septembre 1995 (l’année civile Juive 5756) était la 18ème année du cycle. L’année juive 5758 (commençant le 2 octobre 1997) était la première année du cycle suivant. De plus, Yom Kippour ne doit pas être adjacent à un Shabbat, parce que cela causerait des difficultés dans la coordination entre Shabbat et Hoshanah Rabba qui ne doit pas tomber en Shabbat parce qu’il gènerait pour les observances du jour férié. Un jour est ajouté au mois d’Heshvan ou soustrait du mois de Kislev de l’année précédente pour empêcher cela.
Numérotation des années Juives:
Le nombre de l’année sur le calendrier Juif représente le nombre d’années depuis la création, calculé en additionnant les âges des personnages de la Bible depuis les temps de la création.
« Le premier mois » du calendrier Juif est le mois de Nissan, au printemps, quand Pâque arrive. Cependant, le Nouvel An Juif est à Tishri, le septième mois et c’est alors que le nombre d’année est augmenté. Le calendrier Juif a des points de départ différents pour des buts différents.

Durant les années bissextiles, Adar a 30 jours. Dans des années non-bissextiles, Adar a 29 jours. La longueur d’Heshvan et Kislév est déterminée par des calculs complexes impliquant le temps de jour de la pleine lune de Tishri de l’année suivante et le jour de la semaine oùTishri arrivera l’année suivante. Notez que le nombre de jours entre Nissan et Tishri est toujours le même. En raison de cela, le temps séparant la première fête majeure (Pâque en Nissan) de la dernière fête majeure (Soukkot en Tishri) est toujours le même.
